Sessions & scheduling
Every client will be allocated their own agreed training days and weekly session times, which will be reserved for them on an ongoing basis.
Each Friday, I’ll send out my diary for the following week. If you’re unable to make your usual session time, I’ll do my best to rearrange the schedule to find an alternative that works for you.
Session duration & getting started
Each session lasts between 45 minutes and an hour, with a full hour allocated to every client to ensure we have plenty of time to get the most out of your training.
Before your first session, I’ll send you a short form to complete so I can get to know you, understand your goals and gather everything I need to get you started.
From your very first session, we’ll get straight into it. You’ll start learning how to lift weights with proper technique, build confidence in the gym and begin working through your personalised training plan. The aim is to get you feeling comfortable, confident and on track towards achieving your goals from day one.
Food
There are a few different approaches we can take with nutrition, depending on your goals and what you’re looking to achieve.
My preferred approach is using MyFitnessPal. I’ll set you personalised calorie and macronutrient targets (protein, carbs and fats) to work towards. Along the way, I’ll teach you about nutrition and help you understand how to track your food, hit your targets and make informed choices. The aim is not just to get you results now, but to give you the knowledge and confidence to maintain them long-term.
Alternatively, if you’re working towards a specific short-term goal, such as getting in shape for a wedding or holiday, I can provide you with a structured nutrition plan that tells you exactly what to eat each day to help you achieve your goal.
Tracking your progress
How we track your progress will depend on your individual goals.
If your goal is to lose weight, we can monitor changes in how your clothes fit, your belt size and, where useful, the number on the scales. We’ll use a combination of these measures to build a clear picture of your progress.
However, progress isn’t always about weight loss. For many clients, the goal is to become stronger, healthier and more capable, both now and in later life. We track this through your training sessions, monitoring the weights you lift, improvements in your technique and how your strength develops over time.
One of the most rewarding parts of personal training is seeing clients surprise themselves with what they can achieve. You’ll often find yourself lifting weights you never thought possible, building confidence along the way and realising just how much stronger you can become.
The goal is to help you see, feel and measure your progress, giving you the confidence and motivation to keep moving forward.
